The Windy City exists in our mind as a 1930s city of gangster activity and the setting for excellent Broadway musicals. Which couldn’t be further from the reality!

Chicago is a vibrant and progressive city – a veritable petri dish of art, design and architecture. You don’t even have to visit a particular museum or galley – the whole place is like an exhibition of urban design. From Millenium Park to the Willis Towers, Navy Pier and 360 Chicago; these feats of construction brilliance are an essential part of Chicago’s fabric and can’t be missed on a trip here.

The Field Museum of Natural History, Lincoln Park Zoo and Shedd Aquarium are world class and will entertain children and adults alike. Humbolt Park is the heart and lungs of the city and a wonderful place to appreciate the changing colour of the leaves in autumn. The best area to mindlessly wander is Prairie Avenue Historic District.

It’s likely that there’ll be some sort of music festival happening during your visit in Chicago. But if there’s not there are plenty of iconic live music venues where you can catch some talented acts all year round. Don’t forget to gorge yourself on the signature deep-pan pizza.
