Paris. Just the name conjures images of fresh baguettes, tree-lined streets, artists, glamour, sophistication, and men in jaunty berets. The French capital has captured the hearts and imagination of people the world over and continues to remain one of the world’s most visited cities to this day.

What to see in Paris… Where to start?! The Eiffel Tour is probably the best place. Go and marvel at it during the day, then come back at night and watch it twinkle on the hour, every hour.

No visit is complete without a wander around the artist district of Mont Marte with a stop at the church of the Sacre Coeur. And of course there’s the other church that has a special place in popular culture – Notre Dame. Pere Lachaise Cemetery is the final resting place of important people such as Edith Piaf, Oscar Wild, and The Doors’ frontman Jim Morrison. For a more creepy experience descend below the city’s surface and into the labyrinth of Les Catacombes, where 2km of tunnels are adorned with the bones of Paris’ ex-residents.

Of course there’s some of the world’s most famous museums and galleries here too. Queue for ages to see a tiny portrait of a plain-looking woman – the Mona Lisa at the Louvre, of course. Then there’s the Centre Pompidou, the Musee d’Orsay, and the Hotel ded Invalides, just to name a few. Finish your trip off with a walk down the Champs Elysees to the Arc de Triomphe.
