‘Warm’ is the word for Cyprus. It’s the people, it’s the climate, it’s the colours of the ancient-meets-modern towns. Half Greek, half Turkish, all Cypriot; this island nation has an identity of its own.

Spend a day out in the Omodos region, trundling through the scenic vineyards and ‘krasohoria’ (wine making villages). Choose either a busy, bustling family beach or find your own slice of solace on one of the lesser-known beaches. Head into the pine-covered interior just for the scenic look-outs or for some longer walks.

Cyprus’ most famous beach – Aphrodite’s Beach – is always worth a visit. The two rocks that rise out of the ocean are great for perching on. Take you iconic ‘I’ve been on holiday in Cyprus!’ pictures here.

The recently re-opened Hammam Omerye will relax the weariest of muscles in a beautiful traditional Turkish bath setting. The best way to experience the clash of cultures in Cyprus is through the mouth watering food. ‘Meze’ is the best way to sample lots of different dishes, with Turkish, Middle Eastern and Greek influence.

History buffs will love the variety of archaeological sites. From the pre-Christian Salamis to the neolithic Choirokoitia, to the multi-period Ancient Kourion, these sites are some of the most impressive in the region.
