You know who’s from Barbados? Rihanna. And the popstar personifies this Caribbean island nation perfectly – part British, part Caribbean, totally gorgeous, and completely captivating.

The capital of Bridgetown is a beautiful old colonial town just perfect for wandering around. Shopping is excellent here, especially along the pedestrian-only Swan Street. For artisan handicrafts visit Pelican Craft Village. Check out the beautiful Parliament Buildings and St Michael’s Cathedral. Sample some of Barbados’ finest aged rum at Mount Gay Rum Visitor Centre, and check out some skilled surfers at the famous reef break of Soup Bowl. Harrison’s Cave is in the centre of the island and has a tram that takes you through the underground wonderland with its streams and stalactites and stalagmites.

Accra Beach is one of the largest and most popular on the island and is a great place to spend a beach day. Carlisle Bay is the best for incredible snorkeling. Barbados Wildlife Reserve is home to monkeys, flamingoes, cayman, armadillos and much more – it’s a must-visit for nature lovers.
