Tel Aviv is where Israel really comes to life. It’s hip and happening and the locals really live life to the fullest. The beaches are the hub of the city and the nightlife is taken seriously. Tel Aviv is the place that Israelis come on holidays- to relax and to party.

There are some excellent museums on offer in Tel Aviv for those wanting to learn more about local culture and understand more about the past. Eretz Israel Museum explains the ancient history of the area, the IDF History Museum is war-focused, and the Beit Hatfutsot explores the Jewish experience from past to present.

The Old Railway Station is worth a visit not just to appreciate the architecture but to understand the role it’s played in Tel Aviv life (it wasn’t immune from war activities). Lovers of architecture will lap up the Bauhaus beauties in Bialik street, which is also home to Beit Ha’ir cultural centre which displays world class exhibitions.

Day trips are possible to Petra in Jordan or to the Dead Sea for a bit of salt-water revival. Cycling along the coast is a wonderful, active way to explore the city.
