Madrid, the capital of Spain, is a cosmopolitan city with a large cultural and artistic heritage. Besides being a cultural destination, Madrid is also a lively city with many pubs, cafes, and nightclubs. If you see people with grapes in their hands during the New Year’s celebration in Madrid, don’t worry, this is normal and you are not losing your mind. The thing is that Madrileños as a part of the tradition eat 12 grapes when the clock strikes twelve for good luck. Did you ever want to eat at the world’s oldest restaurant? Go to the Restaurante Sobrino de Botín. It was opened in 1725 and still serves delicious meals to its clientele.

Getting around Madrid should not be that difficult, due to the fact that it has the second largest metro network in Europe and everything is organised in a perfect order. There are many museums such as the Nacional Del Prado, Museum of Americas and the Railway Museum that are definitely worth visiting. Madrid also has several quite unique and interesting tourist spots that you could explore. For example, the open-air pool with several giant slides that the kids just love. There is also El Rastro, an authentic Spanish flea market where you can find absolutely everything. Keep in mind that the flea market works only on Sunday.
