Exploring Parque Nacional del Este will always delight, with hundreds of square kilometres of semi-humid forest filled with caverns, emerged reefs, and countless native wildlife. For other beautiful views take the Telerifico cable car up to the top of Pico Isabel de Torres for sweeping panoramas across the city and the region. Do not miss Cascada el Limon waterfall.

Architectural and cultural delights can be found in the Faro a Colon monument, the odd disused Paramount movie set of Altos de Chavon, and the historic Catedral Primada de America cathedral. The mysterious prehistoric art in the limestone caves of Reserve Antropologica Cuevas del Pomier are the Caribbean’s best example of the drawings and carvings of the area’s earliest inhabitants.
