The Scottish capital of Edinburgh is the perfect place for a city break. From the captivating Gothic Old Town with it’s fascinating history, to the stunning views from Arthur’s Seat, there’s plenty to keep you entertained.

The Royal Mile is the first port of call. Wander along the main street of the Old Town, peering down alleys and exploring them at your will. At the top you’ll reach Edinburgh Castle which is worth dedicating half a day to. Not only is it an engaging and exciting way to learn about Scottish history, but the views it affords across the city to the ocean are breathtaking.

Back down the Royal Mile you’ll find the Scotch Whisky Experience – no trip to the Scottish capital is complete without sampling at least one of its favourite drink. Another experience not to be missed is Real Mary King’s Close – an immersive experience in an underground Old Town alley, where actors tell gruesome tales of life in 17th century Edinburgh.

Climb Arthur’s Seat, Edinburgh’s signature hill, for sweeping panoramas and a breath of fresh air. Neighbourhoods of Grassmarket and Crammond are fabulous to walk around to get a feel for what non-medieval Old Town Edinburgh is about.
