The allure of Granada is hard to ignore. This stunning city in the foothills of Spain’s Sierra Nevada mountain range was a Moorish stronghold, and this Arabic influence runs strong throughout. Most famous for its Wonder of the World – the Alhambra Palace – there’s a lot to explore in this mystical city.

The Alhambra should be any visitor’s first stop. This Moorish marvel will take your breath away. The trickling fountains, peaceful gardens, and quiet courtyards will have you thinking you’ve been transported to a time and place far, far away.

The historic architectural marvels of Granada don’t stop there. The next place you need to visit is the Catholic stunner Capilla Real. Then there’s the Basilica San Juan de Dios that is so opulent that even the most hardened traveller who is sick of visiting European churches will be amazed. Don’t stop there! Next is the Cathedral of Granada and Cartuja Monastery.

Wander through the Muslim quarter of Albayzin which is fascinating in itself but also affords great views across to Alhambra. You’ll find some excellent restaurants and bars up here, too. Another place to view the city, the hills, and the Alhambra is Mirador San Nicolas. Try to come here for sunset.
